Whitley Bay Amusements
Visit Whitley Bay
Whitley Bay's seafront has been home to classic amusement arcades for generations, clustered along the promenade near the landmark Spanish City Dome. It's the sort of unpretentious, pay-as-you-go fun that's been a staple of the British seaside for decades, 2p pushers, prize grabbers and the odd round of mini bowling. They've decided to take it up a notch by now having prizes that range from Stanley Cups, Labubu's and Squishies.
The lowdown:
Where: Several arcades line the Whitley Bay seafront, with T J Leisure at 1 Marine Avenue, Whitley Bay, NE26 1LX among the longest-standing.
When: Most seafront arcades open daily, typically from around 10am until late evening (T J Leisure runs 10am–11pm), though hours can vary by venue and season.
Cost: Free to enter. Machines are pay-per-play, with prices ranging from just a few pence on traditional 2p pushers up to £1 or more on prize grabbers and modern arcade games, so it's easy to keep a visit cheap and cheerful.
Parking: Pay and display parking is available along the seafront and surrounding streets, with more spaces further back from the promenade on busy days.
Traditional 2p and 10p pushers, prize grabber machines, fruit machines, and family-friendly amusements including mini bowling at some venues. It pairs naturally with a walk along the seafront, a visit to the Spanish City Dome, or a paddle at Whitley Bay's beach.
