café, go home. Kynren, The Storied Lands doesn’t follow that formula. It doesn’t follow any

formula, because there’s genuinely nothing else like it in the UK. Five live action shows

across one day, in one place, with a cast of professional performers, hundreds of birds of

prey, Viking warriors, medieval horses, and a Victorian maze. All included in one ticket. No

queues for rides, because there are no rides. Just world-class live performance, one after

another, in a landscape that earns its setting.

This is the North East’s biggest new attraction of 2026, and it earns that title properly.

There are no additional charges to see any of the shows, everything is included.

Important note on dates: The day park is open Tuesday to Sunday only. On night show dates, day park-only tickets are unavailable, only the combined Day Park and Night Show ticket can be purchased on those dates. The Storied Lands operates on a scheduled show format. When you book, you receive a personalised itinerary that guarantees you a seat at every show across the day. There’s no racing between venues or arriving to find something is full — the day is designed to flow and it does.

THE LOST FEATHER

More than 250 birds take to the skies in a show built around flight, freedom, and storytelling. We’re talking pelicans, owls, macaws, vultures, African crowned cranes, eagles species from across the world, performing in a show that is both spectacular and unexpectedly moving.

This is the one that gets the strongest reaction from children who’ve never seen a large- scale bird of prey display before. The scale of it, over 250 birds in the air simultaneously, is something that photographs genuinely cannot prepare you for. You have to be there for it.

LEGEND OF THE WEAR

A giant lake becomes the stage for this one, water stunts, dramatic storytelling, and the kind of production values that make you wonder how they’ve managed to put all of this in a field in County Durham. The answer, of course, is years of building something exceptional. The lake setting and the water effects make this visually one of the most striking shows of the day.

LAND OF THE VIKINGS

An all-new show for 2026 where Viking warriors clash, sparks fly, and fires burn. Multi- sensory, physically intense, and genuinely exciting for children of primary age and above. The Viking Settlement is also available to explore before this show and before the night performance, worth arriving early to take it in.

THE TRUSTY STEED

Medieval knights on horseback, jousting, and a fearless female warrior proving her worth through daring horsemanship. The show is built around equestrian skill at a level that is impressive to watch regardless of how much you know about horses. For children who love anything to do with history and adventure, this is the one they’ll be talking about on the drive home.

VICTORIAN IMAGINARIUMS

A maze filled with stories, surprises, and eccentric Victorian characters that you walk through and interact with. It’s the most participatory of the five experiences, less a performance to watch and more a world to walk into, and it works particularly well for younger children who respond to being spoken to and included rather than just seated in front of a stage.

THE NIGHT SHOW — AN EPIC TALE OF ENGLAND

The evening performance is what built Kynren’s reputation and it remains extraordinary. A 90-minute outdoor spectacle covering British history from Roman occupation through to the Second World War, performed on a lakeside stage by a cast of over 1,000 performersincluding horses, soldiers, monarchs, and historical figures. Real pyrotechnics, water effects, a live musical score, and a scale of performance that simply doesn’t exist anywhere else in the UK.

The show begins at dusk and ends in full darkness, which gives it an atmosphere that is impossible to replicate in daylight. For families, the show works best from around age 7 upwards for children who can follow a narrative, younger children often enjoy the spectacle regardless, but it is a long evening and worth considering the timing carefully.

How the day works: On arrival you receive your personalised itinerary which schedules you into every show at specific times throughout the day. Between shows there is time to explore the site, eat, and visit the Viking Settlement. The structure means you’re never waiting without purpose and you don’t miss anything.

Getting there: The site is at Flatts Farm, Bishop Auckland, well signposted from the A688.

Parking is available on-site. A shuttle bus service runs from Bishop Auckland town centre on night show dates if you’d rather not drive.
