CBK Adventures is the North East coast's dedicated home of paddlesports, based right on Cullercoats Bay. Alongside guided tours and lessons, they run a well-stocked equipment hire operation, kitting visitors out to explore the coastline independently, from Cullercoats itself up towards Whitley Bay or south towards Tynemouth.

Where: 1A Norma Crescent, Cullercoats, North Shields, NE26 2PD
When: Open seven days a week through the summer season. The Cullercoats hub generally runs Monday to Friday 9am–6pm, with weekend hours varying, so it's worth checking current times before travelling, particularly outside peak season.
Cost: CBK Adventures has moved to a multi-day hire model for equipment, allowing visitors to take a kayak, paddleboard or surfboard away and explore at their own pace rather than being tied to a single session. Guided sessions combining a lesson with hire start from around £39 per person, including a wetsuit. Prices for hire-only options vary and are best checked in-store or online.
Parking: On-street parking is available near the shop. CBK Adventures is a short walk from Cullercoats Metro station, and also within easy reach of Whitley Bay Metro station.
Hire equipment includes Tootega sit-on kayaks (ideal for beginners), Red Paddle Co stand up paddleboards, and Alder wetsuits, bodyboards and surfboards, with buoyancy aids by Yak included as standard. Wheels are available for transporting heavier craft, and a full safety briefing is given based on the day's conditions. Hirers must be 18 or over, with under-18s required to be accompanied on the water by a responsible adult. Beyond hire, CBK Adventures also runs a beach sauna, an eight-person Zen Den relaxation tent, and Kahvi, their on-site coffee shop.
