This is the one where the kids ran between so many different zones we genuinely lost count, and the all-inclusive ticket meant we never once had to say no to something.

Adventure Valley sits just outside Durham, about 25 minutes from Newcastle, and it bills itself as the North East’s biggest family adventure park. Having been, I believe it. Your ticket covers the vast majority of what’s on site, over 50 attractions across 18,000 sq ft of indoor play and multiple acres outdoors, with only a small handful of extras like the quad bikes carrying a separate charge, clearly flagged rather than sprung on you.

Indoors, the PlayTown is a proper multi level play frame with slides, scramble nets and tubes, plus a separate under 5s section so the little one wasn’t getting flattened by the big kids. Outdoors is where the real energy burn happens, an 18 hole wild west themed mini golf course, jumping pillows, zip wire, go-karts, and Runaway Races, a giant slide that had our eldest going back for round after round.

The Farmyard Zone is a proper highlight, goats, alpacas, chipmunks and kune kune pigs to feed and pet, plus daily Bird-O-Batics flying displays and even goat racing, which turned into the most competitive ten minutes of our entire visit. If the maize is up, the seasonal Maize Maze runs from late June through September and is a genuine navigational challenge, not just a token walk through.

Café Italia covers food on site with home cooked meals and pizzas, and there’s a catering van during summer holidays for extra convenience. Picnics are welcome too if you’d ratherbring your own. Do check opening days before you go, term time sees Tuesday and Wednesday closures.

We were there a full 5 hours, rotating between indoor and outdoor zones as the weather shifted, and the kids never once ran out of things to do. Genuinely one of the best value full- day tickets on our whole list.
