Tantara - Jesmond
Indian food with a serious twist. Date night just found its new home.
We were invited to Tantara in Jesmond last weekend and came away majorly impresed, and I don't say that lightly about an Indian restaurant. (as a girl that lived in India for 6 months).
This is Indian food but not as you know it. The menu is creative, the cocktails are incredible and the whole place has a really elevated feel to it.
We went striahgt in on a prawn starter, and a chicken cheese ball - sounds weird, tasted unreal - then the curries to share with all the sides. Followed by desserts, followed by more drinks, obviously.
One thing to flag: this is on the higher end price-wise (fully worth it). For two of us, starters, mains, desserts and two drinks each the bill came to around £130. Worth every single penny but go knowing that.
This is more of a grown-up date night than a family dinner so leave the high energy kids at home, but honestly this is exactly what makes it special. It's the kind of place you've been looking for when you want something that actually feels like a proper night out.
