This has become our go-to for Bonfire Night, and honestly, it's grown into one of the best organised firework events we've been to in the region.
Gateshead Stadium Firework Frenzy is right on our doorstep, run by Dunes Event Group, and it packs a lot into one evening. Gates open at 4pm with stage music and entertainment running throughout, giving you plenty of time to grab a spot, get the kids settled with some fairground rides, and soak up the atmosphere before the main event. There's a giant fairground on site with thrill rides and classic kids' rides, so there's genuinely something for every age in your group.
A resident DJ keeps the energy going through the afternoon and into the evening, building up to the grand finale at 8.15pm with a proper huge firework display lighting up the stadium.
It's not just a five minute burst either, this is a proper choreographed show that had all of us looking up for a good while. Booking ahead is genuinely worth it here, tickets are £6 online but rise significantly if you leave it to the door, and on busier years this event has sold out. There's no parking on site, but a park and ride service runs from Heworth Metro and Gateshead Interchange every 10
minutes from 4.30pm, so factor that into your journey. We stayed right through until the last fairground ride at 9.30pm, by which point everyone was thoroughly worn out in the best possible way. If you want Bonfire Night without organising anything yourself, just rock up, enjoy the rides, and let someone else handle the fireworks, this is the one.
